2024 was a very poor season with a considerably reduced yield, primarily due to a combination of adverse weather conditions and pest infestations that severely affected the crops. Farmers faced challenges such as unexpected frost during the critical blooming period, which significantly hindered pollination and ultimately resulted in lower fruit production. Additionally, the prolonged periods of drought and fluctuating temperatures throughout the growing season further exacerbated the situation, leading to a disappointing harvest that left many growers struggling to meet their targets and maintain profitability. However, in a striking contrast, 2025 has been spectacular to date, showcasing an impressive turnaround in agricultural fortunes. The season began with fabulous blossoms that appeared two weeks earlier than usual, signalling a promising start. The early bloom was attributed to favourable weather conditions, including optimal temperature ranges and sufficient rainfall, which created an ideal environment for pollination. As a result, there has been a huge fruit set, with trees laden with an abundance of developing fruit that bodes well for the upcoming harvest. This remarkable improvement has brought renewed hope and excitement among growers, who are now optimistic about the potential yields for the year. The vibrant blossoms not only indicate a healthy crop but also attract beneficial pollinators, further enhancing the fruit set. Farmers are diligently monitoring their orchards, implementing best practices to ensure the continued health and productivity of their crops. A photograph capturing this beautiful transformation and the flourishing state of the orchards will be sent separately, showcasing the stunning visual evidence of this season's success and the potential for a bountiful harvest ahead.
